Being a mom and a grandma is my favorite thing and the biggest accomplishment of my life. I love these people and are so beyond grateful to have them in my life.

My own mom was the absolute best and I miss her every day. She loved me, my siblings and our kids so big! And she taught and supported me in countless ways.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, sisters, aunts, and friends out there.

Hot take: most Mother’s Day gifts completely miss the point.

A few years ago, my daughters gave me a surprise I’ll never forget….
a night in a stretch limo, just the five of us, singing, dancing, laughing… followed by a delicious dinner out!

And it completely changed how I see Mother’s Day.

Because what I thought I wanted… wasn’t it.

The biggest problem in Sri Lanka right now…
is choosing what to do between the beaches, safaris, temples, and mountains!

We’ve had so many people ask us lately…
“Is Sri Lanka safe to visit right now?”

After traveling all around the country, our answer is a very easy YES!!

But what we didn’t expect… was just how much there is to experience here.

We went on 3 different safaris and saw countless elephants 🐘
We went snorkeling and saw dolphins, turtles, colorful fish, and coral 🐠
We spent time along the southern coast with clean, warm water and world-class surfing 🌊

And that’s just a small part of it.

Travel here felt easy. There was fuel, plenty of food, and getting around was simple. Everywhere we went felt calm, welcoming, and open.

But what stayed with us the most wasn’t just how smooth everything felt…

it was the people.

So kind. So generous. And genuinely happy to have visitors. It’s one of those places where you feel it everywhere you go.

From wildlife safaris in Yala… to ancient ruins in the Cultural Triangle… to the beaches along the southern coast… Sri Lanka completely surprised us in the best way.
